Uplands Remembers

Published 9/11/2025

To commemorate Remembrance this year, our Headteacher, Mr Connor, led assemblies for Years 7–11 bringing our school community together for a collective moment of reflection and remembrance, united in hope for a brighter, more peaceful future.

Our Student Ambassadors visited tutor groups in the week leading up to Remembrance Sunday to sell poppy items. Items included zip pulls, snap bands, and traditional poppy merchandise and they were also available to purchase at break and lunchtimes from our main reception.

We were incredibly proud to have been part of the Wadhurst Remembrance Service on Sunday 9 November, joining our community in paying tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and all those who continue to serve and protect their countries.

The service included a parade through the village, a gathering at the war memorial, and a heartfelt service in St. Peter & St. Paul Church. Our Assistant Headteacher, Mr Gilbey, Head of History, Mrs. Underdown, and three of our students, Alec, Charlie & Pearl, represented Uplands Academy by laying a wreath on behalf of our school community.

Our school also observed the two-minute silence on Tuesday 11 November at 11am.

A big thank you to everyone who has donated so far. All proceeds go to the Poppy Appeal, a registered charity supporting serving and ex-serving members of the Armed Forces and their families.
