Website Accessibility
This website is run by MARK Education Trust. We are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.
Compliance Status
Despite the partial exemption for schools, we strive to ensure our website conforms to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards. This means that our website aims to be:
- Perceivable: Information and user interface components are presented in ways that users can perceive.
- Operable: User interface components and navigation are operable.
- Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface are understandable.
- Robust: Content is robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
Measures Taken to Improve Accessibility
To enhance accessibility, our website features:
- a high visibility version (selected in the footer)
- an Accessibility widget by Userway (left-hand bottom of the screen which offers
Contrast – Enhance readability. Invert: Reverses colour schemes for high contrast, ideal for low-light environments. Dark: Applies a dark mode to reduce glare and improve readability in dim settings. Light: Uses a lighter colour scheme to ensure clear visibility in well-lit conditions.
Highlight Links - makes navigation easier by visually emphasising hyperlinks. This enhancement helps users quickly identify clickable elements, improving overall website usability.
Bigger Text - Increase text size with our Bigger Text option to enhance readability for users who need larger fonts. This feature makes on-screen text easier to read, accommodating a range of visual preferences and needs with up to 4 levels of text size.
Text Spacing - Customise the spacing between lines of text: Light: Minimal spacing for a compact view. Moderate: Balanced spacing for general readability. Heavy: Expanded spacing for those who need more separation between lines.
Pause Animations - allows users to stop all on-screen animations. This is particularly useful for individuals who experience motion sensitivity or find animations distracting. Supported formats: CSS animation Embedded video players; i.e. YouTube, Vimeo, Gif animation
Hide Images - removes visual elements from the page, focusing solely on text content. This feature benefits users who are visually impaired or prefer a simplified, text-focused view.
Dyslexia Friendly - offer specialised font choices designed by UserWay to improve readability for end-users with dyslexia. These fonts feature distinct letter shapes and spacing to reduce confusion and facilitate easier reading.
Cursor Feature - Enhance cursor usability with these tools: Big Cursor: Enlarges the cursor for better visibility. Reading Mask: Applies a semi-transparent mask around the cursor to aid in reading. Reading Guide: Provides a horizontal guide to help users follow lines of text more easily.
Tool Tips - designed to enhance understanding by providing additional context and explanations, particularly for image elements. When users hover over or focus on an image, Tool Tips displays the alt text description, offering insights into the image's content and purpose. This feature ensures that all users, especially those with visual impairments, can fully comprehend the visual components of your page.
Line Height - Adjust the vertical spacing between lines of text with our Line Height options. This feature allows users to choose the spacing that best suits their reading comfort and needs.
Text Align -Customise text alignment with options to align text left, centre, right, or justify. This feature helps users view and organise text according to their preferences and accessibility requirements.
Saturation - allows users to adjust the intensity of colours on the page. It includes options for low and high saturation to suit different visual preferences. Additionally, the desaturate option reduces colours to grayscale, providing a simplified and more comfortable viewing experience for end-users who may be sensitive to bright colours.

Non-Accessible Content
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, some content may not yet be fully accessible. This may include:
- PDFs: most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software, please get in touch if you are not able to access, and we will provide the information in a different format.
- Links: We endeavour to include appropriate and descriptive links where necessary, ensuring they are distinguishable for all users. If any links are not sufficiently descriptive or distinguishable – making them inaccessible to screen reader users – we will rectify this upon notification
- Headings: We endeavour to ensure that the order of headings is semantically correct. This helps users who rely on assistive technologies, such as screen readers, to easily understand the structure and contents of the page. If any issues are identified, we will rectify them upon notification.
- Text: We endeavour to ensure that our brand colours meet the required contrast radio thresholds. If any text elements lack sufficient colour contrast, we will rectify this upon notification. However, there is a high contract version available on our site.
- Images: Some images do not have a text alternative, which means users relying on screen reader cannot access the information. Where images are missing descriptive alt text, we will rectify this upon notification. This fails
- Video: We endeavour to ensure that, where needed, we include frame titles, captioning and transcriptions for any videos. If any videos do not have a frame title, captions or transcriptions, so people using assistive technology cannot access the information, we will rectify this if notified and for future additions.
- Tables: We endeavour to ensure that, where needed, tables have the appropriate headings set. If any tables do not have defined headings, so people using a screen reader or keyboard navigation cannot access the information, we will rectify this if notified.
- Landmarks: Some areas of this website do not currently make full use of HTML5 or ARIA landmarks, which is important for guiding users, using assistive technologies, to key sections on a page. This is currently under reviewed with our website provider.

We are working to improve these areas of our website to make it accessible for all.
- Keeping up to date: We will endeavour to keep up to date with evolving accessibility standards and best practices to ensure an inclusive experience for all users. Further training will also be provided.
