Year 10 attend GCSE Science Live!

Published 27/01/2026

On Tuesday 27 January, our Science department took our Year 10 Triple Scientists to the Brighton Dome for Science Live! It was an inspiring opportunity for students to hear from five of Britain’s leading scientists, all working at the forefront of their fields.

The day is designed to help improve students’ Science GCSE results, offering top tips on examination success from an experienced science examiner, and showing pupils how science genuinely provides solutions to many of the world’s greatest challenges.

Students enjoyed talks from experts including Professor Robert Winston, who explored human fertility, Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, who posed three big questions about space, and Professor Gilly Forrester, who demonstrated how infrared cameras can be used in evolutionary psychology to measure stress levels.

A huge thank you to Mr. Dwyer, Mr. Bowman, Miss. Kemp and Mrs. Richardson for facilitating this valuable experience for our students. Mrs. Richardson, Head of Science commented, “We were extremely proud of our Uplands students, who demonstrated exemplary behaviour and embodied the MARK values throughout.”

Well done Year 10 scientists, we hope this trip will help towards you achieving the results you deserve next year!
