World Book Day 2026

Published 6/03/2026

On Thursday 5th March, students and staff enjoyed a full day dedicated to celebrating the joy of reading as our school marked World Book Day with a range of fun and engaging activities.

One of the highlights of the day was the Book Character Quest, which saw staff members dress up as their favourite literary characters. Students had great fun spotting familiar faces from well-loved stories around the school.

The Library hosted a Book and Reading Quiz, where students tested their literary knowledge in a friendly competition. It was wonderful to see so many students getting involved and showing off their passion for books.

The winners of both the Character Quest and the lunchtime Book Quiz will be announced next week.

To extend the celebration beyond the school day, students have been given access to a Virtual Library so they can explore and enjoy book extracts, either by reading or listening from the comfort of home.

KS3 students took part in special World Book Day–themed English lessons. These sessions encouraged students to think creatively about stories, characters, and the power of books.

Students also had the chance to express their artistic talents by taking part in the Design a National Book Token Competition. Well done to everyone who submitted a design!

And of course, no World Book Day would be complete without the tradition of gifting every student a World Book Day book token!

A huge thank you goes to Mrs Cantrell, Teacher of English, for organising the day and inspiring students to celebrate the magic of reading.

Thank you to all students and staff for making it such a fantastic celebration.
