ZooLab workshop 2026

Published 24/03/2026

On 24th March, our Year 8 students had an unforgettable encounter with some fascinating creatures, thanks to our friends at ZooLab.

From holding Sheldon the African snail and Frank the cockroach, to coming face-to-face with Java the royal snake, students stepped outside their comfort zones and embraced hands-on learning in a really exciting way.

The workshop, designed to enhance the geography curriculum, gave students an insight into rainforest ecosystems, the clever adaptations of the animals that live there, and the growing challenges they face in the wild.

Mrs Huxford, Head of Geography, reflected on the day:

“It was wonderful to see students so engaged and enthusiastic in a completely different learning environment. Many showed real bravery in getting hands-on with the animals, and the conversations that followed throughout the day showed just how much the experience resonated with them. I'm sure it will be an experience that will stay with them for many years.”

A huge thank you to ZooLab for bringing the rainforest to life and inspiring our young learners!
