School Closure: Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June 2026

Published 23/06/2026

With exceptionally high temperatures forecast over the coming days, we have undertaken a number of thorough risk assessments across our school to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both students and staff.

Following this careful review, we have taken the decision to close our school fully on Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June 2026.

We recognise that this may cause disruption for families and want to reassure you that this decision has not been taken lightly. However, given the forecast conditions and the limitations of our school environment in sustained high temperatures, we believe this is the safest course of action for our school community.

Learning arrangements

Work will be set for all students to complete independently during the closure period. This will be shared via our usual online platforms by 10:00am, and students are expected to engage with this work as they would during a normal school day.

Staff will be contactable via email throughout the day if needed.

Examinations, trips and events

Year 10 Mock exams will start on Friday 26th June following the original timetable of GCSE English Literature (AM Exam) followed by GCSE Food Prep (PM Exam).

The following missed exams: Maths Paper 1, History, Biology and Geography from Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June will be rescheduled for next week.

An updated Year 10 Mock Timetable will be shared at the end of the week.

Our Year 11 Prom will go ahead as planned on Friday 26 June.

Free School Meals

We will be issuing free school meal vouchers to eligible families to support them during the closure period. Further details will be shared directly with those families.

School reopens: Friday 26 June

We plan for our school to reopen as normal on Friday 26 June. Existing hot weather adaptations including uniform flexibility and ventilation will continue, and all other expectations remain in place.

Ongoing review

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as required. Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of all members of our school community.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s Year Team in the first instance.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
