MARK Education Trust Seeks Skilled Professionals to Support School Governance
MARK Education Trust is inviting professionals from across the local community to consider joining its Board of Trustees, supporting the strategic leadership and long-term success of its schools.
Strong governance plays a vital role in ensuring that schools deliver high-quality education and positive outcomes for all students. Across the Trust, governors and trustees provide strategic oversight, supporting school leaders while also offering constructive challenge and accountability.
As part of its continued development, MARK Education Trust is now seeking individuals with professional expertise, particularly in:
-
Finance
-
Audit and Risk
-
IT and Cyber Security
These are not operational roles, but strategic positions where individuals can apply their experience to help shape decision-making and improve outcomes for young people.
Clare Collins, Chair of Trustees, said:
“Governance can influence all aspects of the school community – from the quality of the school experience to the outcomes students need to pursue their ambitions. Being a trustee can be challenging, but feeling like you are making a difference is ample reward.”
Providing further insight into the impact of governance, Alex Baptie, Local Governing Committee Member at Beacon Academy, highlighted the importance of the role:
“Being a governor means using your experience to ask the questions that protect children, support leaders and hold open the door to improvement. When you see a school improving and know the governing body has played its part, that is deeply rewarding.”
The Trust emphasises that governance is a rewarding opportunity for professionals looking to contribute beyond their day-to-day role, while developing skills in leadership, strategy and accountability.
Prospective applicants do not need to be education specialists, but should bring curiosity, commitment and a willingness to contribute at a strategic level.
