The Duke of Edinburgh's Award - Bronze Qualifying Expedition

The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) Qualifying Expedition was a great success, with all students making an excellent start to the weekend. From the outset, students arrived fully prepared and equipped for the challenge ahead, demonstrating a positive attitude and a high level of commitment.

Due to the hot weather conditions, some minor adjustments had to be made to the planned expedition route. However, the students took these changes completely in their stride and adapted brilliantly, continuing to work effectively through some challenging conditions. Their resilience, determination, and teamwork were evident throughout.

Outspark instructors were highly complimentary about the group, commenting on how independent the students were during the expedition. They noted the students' ability to make decisions, work together, and show strong leadership qualities while navigating their way through Ashdown Forest. 

During the expedition, students camped overnight at Adamswell Campsite, where they successfully pitched their tents and prepared their own evening meals. Once again, feedback from Outspark was very positive, highlighting the students' independent approach and noting that little to no assistance was required. The students showed excellent practical skills and worked collaboratively to ensure their campsites were organised and well managed.

Throughout the expedition, all students demonstrated the school's MARK values exceptionally well and represented Uplands with brilliantly. Their conduct, perseverance, and willingness to support one another reflected positively on both themselves and the school.

Every student should be extremely proud of their efforts and accomplishments. Based on their performance, all participants have shown that they are more than capable of progressing on to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Award.
