Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expedition Success!
The Uplands Academy Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition was a tremendous success, with all students successfully completing three days and two nights on expedition across the challenging terrain of the South Downs.
Throughout the expedition, students walked for an average of 6-7 hours each day, demonstrating exceptional resilience, determination, and teamwork. Despite the demanding routes, varied terrain, and navigation challenges, every participant was excellent and met the requirements of the expedition section of the Silver Award.
We were extremely impressed by the level of knowledge, independence, and maturity shown by all students. Participants confidently navigated their routes, worked effectively as teams, and demonstrated outstanding problem-solving skills throughout the expedition.
The South Downs provided a challenging environment, requiring students to apply their navigation skills accurately while managing the physical demands of long-distance walking. The way students adapted to these challenges was a credit to themselves and to Uplands Academy.
Congratulations to all students involved. Their commitment and achievement throughout the expedition and the volunteering sections have shown that they have the skills, confidence, and determination to successfully progress on to the Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award in the future. Every participant should be incredibly proud of what they have accomplished.
Thank you to our aspiring student photographer Charlie M who managed to capture the majority of these photos during his expedition.
