Through our BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise curriculum, students develop a good understanding of how businesses operate in the real world. They explore the dynamic nature of enterprise, learning how entrepreneurs identify opportunities, take calculated risks, and make strategic decisions to meet customer needs and drive success.

Our curriculum equips students with the knowledge and skills to analyse market trends, understand financial documents, and evaluate business performance. They learn how to plan and pitch their own enterprise ideas, gaining confidence in communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.

By studying real-life case studies and engaging in practical tasks, students develop a critical awareness of the challenges and rewards of running a business. This prepares them not only for further study in business and economics but also for the world of work, where enterprise skills are increasingly valued across all sectors.

How our subject contributes to personal development

The BTEC Enterprise course supports our Personal Development programme. Students are encouraged to reflect on ethical business practices, the importance of sustainability, and the social responsibilities of entrepreneurs. This fosters a sense of integrity and global citizenship.

Throughout the course, students develop essential employability skills such as teamwork, resilience, leadership, and time management. They learn how to present ideas confidently, respond to feedback constructively, and adapt to changing circumstances—skills that are vital for personal growth and future success.

The curriculum also promotes financial literacy, helping students understand budgeting, profit margins, and the implications of financial decisions. This empowers them to make informed choices in their personal lives and prepares them for responsible adulthood.
